How to Send Your Grant Application Electronically
Sending Your Grant Application to NeighborGood Partners
Going forward, self-help housing grant applications will only be received and reviewed electronically. This is at the request of the national office. Grant applications are too large to send as an email attachment, even if saved as a PDF and compressed into a .zip file. So, it's best to use a cloud storage account like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox for easy sharing.
With a cloud storage account, you can upload your grant application, share it, and collaborate there with your NeighborGood Partners specialist during the application preparation and review process. Your grant application folder in your cloud storage account is accessible by anyone you decide to share it with, and whoever you share it with does not need to have an account to access it.
If you don't already subscribe to a cloud storage solution, Microsoft Office 365 (OneDrive) and Dropbox are available at reduced rates for nonprofits. Google offers free Google for Nonprofits accounts that provides Google Workspace which includes Google Drive.
WHAT TO DO:
• Create a folder for your grant application in your cloud storage account.
• Upload each section of the application into your grant application folder.
Once all sections of the application are uploaded, share the main application folder with your NeighborGoods Partner specialist. Your specialist should receive an email notifying them that they have been allowed access to the files in your application folder in your cloud account.
Your specialist will review your application and collaborate with you to make changes, working from your cloud storage account. When the application is final, NeighborGood Partners will download the sections and compile it into the full grant application.
Once completed, NeighborGood Partners will forward your grant application to your state RD office.
For ease of review, the application should be saved as a PDF with each section tabbed. We can provide instructions on how to do this, but, in the meantime, we are happy to directly assist you with doing it for you.
